Considering Uni-Theater. Omni 150 for surrounds?

I'm close to pulling the trigger on a Uni-Theater, and I'm looking at surrounds that will match. I know that a 2nd Uni-theater would give me 6.1, but I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to give me 5.1. Are the Omni 150s a good match for surround? Thanks!

I have the Uni-theatre and used Omnicans 5 for surronds.  The Omnicans have the same speaker array as found in the Uni-theatre and match fantastic tonally.  I have the Uni-theatre on top of a wall unit over six feet high so  have inverted the speakers to point down.  The Omnican 5's are mounted in the ceiling about 14 feet away.  The sound field is incredible (especially since the room is only 12 feet wide) and I cannot believe how seamless the sound as it plays around the room.  I also have a Omni s10 subwoofer which can make the floor vibrate in those special soundtracks.  Hope this helps.

I still haven't purchased surround speakers.   The Omni 150s got vetoed as surrounds due to size and where they'd need to go.  I have to admit that I agree.

I'd love to get Omnican 5s, but at $200 each, I have a hard time justifying them.  Crutchfield has i-6Cst--the stereo version of the i-6C--for $85 each.  They aren't omnipolar, but they may work out.  I'd get two of them, and only connect one channel to each speaker (essentially using them as i-6C).

     Any opinions on this?

FYI, my ceiling is vaulted, so the speakers will be aimed toward the back of the listeners.  Because of that, omnipolar speakers may be unnecessary.

I don't know the speaker you are talking about, but with the fact surronds handle indiscreet sound enhancements and your ceiling is vaulted towards the listener I can't see any problem if you match them on the same frequency (I use the Radio shack sound meter to get each speaker at same level) at the price these i-6Cst are worth trying out and hearing what they sound like.  How's your Unitheatre sounding to you?

Sorry, I don't get over here very often.

Crutchfield added i-6C to their Mirage lineup, which is the single voice coil version of the i-6Cst.  They are only $125/pair and I bought them last week. I installed them on Saturday and I'm very happy with the sound.  (I wasn't quite so happy with running the speaker cables though. Indifferent )

The UniTheater is great for what it is--I won't lie (to you or myself) and say it's the best set of front speakers I've heard, but it is the best LCR combination that I've heard.  It's hard to get L & R separation in a 40" package.

The i-6C surrounds are spaced about 11 feet apart, and slightly behind the listening area (the vaulted ceiling sends the sound almost pefectly to ear height).
