Hi , I set up my rear surrounds on speaker stands about 4ft high and right side up. The front speakers are set on the tv stand next to the tv. The rear back surround is sitting on an end table. The TV is in the corner so I chose this 6.1 set-up. It sounds great but I am wondering if I should elevate the rear surrounds and back surround and fire them down. As this would require drilling and wire running thru walls I am asking for opinions.

MIRAGE NANOSAT 5.1 SPEAKER SYSTEM

Hello Pete,

The great part about the NANOSAT prestiges is that you can be very close to the speakers without them starting to lose their enveloping sound field which is so crucial for good surround sound systems. 

However, I just recently moved my NANOSAT prestige's from my end tables to the wall (about 7ft high 1ft below the ceiling & 3 ft from the rear wall).   Even though it wasn't a night and day difference, I prefer the new set-up as it appears to give me an even more enveloping experience than the previous set-up.  It also helped to stop my 3-year old from using them as little "footballs"...

By the way, I use the NANOSAT prestiges as rears with OMD-5s in the front and the new Prestige S8, which turned out to be a great system.

My two cents - elevate them and point them down.

I recenlty added two Prestige Nanosats as surrounds to go with my OM-9's. With my set up I could mount them at any height I required. Since I will be sitting down to watch TV, and to minimize the chance of someone damaging them, I mounted them a little above ear level (when standing) and pointed them down. The are doing a very good job as my surrounds.
