    Mirage M3si, broken Bass unit!

    Hello

I am(or rather was) the happy owner of 2 Mirage M3si speakers. Today the bass unit in one of the speakers started to sound noisy. I have checked everything and have concluded that the bass is finito :(.

How do I take of the front of the speakers? and how do I replace the unit? and probably the worst question, where do I get a new bass for the speaker?

I really hope you can help me. I live in Denmark and it seems hard to find someone who knows anything about Mirage.

     Kind Regards

    Marc

     Hi!

Did you ever get any answers?

seems it´s a while ago that you have written this SOS....

I also have Mirage M# si , also with one broken bass unit and two trebles...too bad.

Im thinking of just replace the bass with a Peerless but need to check specs if theyre suitable.

    Regards

    Hi Pelle,

I have a set of original M-3 speakers which need a new set of woofers and I was wondering if you tried the Peerless or found something else.

     Dear Rainchaser!
I have mounted one Peerless  P  830668  SLS in one of my cabinets. It needs some modification to fit in the hole though, as the mounting ring with screwholes is too wide.
And in the back off the speakercab there´s a support grid that needs to be deepened.
But, no big dea,l I very easily cut it to the right size and cut out some wood in the back and now it seems to sound pretty close to the original . I still need to mount some new mid and tweeters to make it complete.
Then I will compare the cabinet with original bass/ the one with Peerless. I can report back to you... but to be sure to get some info just write me a message every now and then.....
    Regards
    Pelle

Any pictures?  Also, you wouldn't have a copy of the service manual for these speakers, by chance?

    thanks in advance.

I see that on the Mirage website you can down looad the user's manual (at least that's what I think its called).  I have emailed Mirage asking if they can provide me with a copy of the service manual for the M3-si.  I hope they can provide that.

    Thanks.  /rather

Re: Mirage M3si, broken Bass unit!

Greetings Pelle, I'm curious about the sound quality of your speakers since you did the modifications to the cabinet braces and size of the opening. My understanding was that the speaker's sound had much to do with the design of the cabinet and the bracing used. I was hesitant to modify my cabinetry so I chose to go for a paper cone woofer with the same dimensions as the original though I am sure the quality is not near that of the peerless speakers you have gone to. I will let you know if I made a good decision once the replacements show up. Regards Rainnchaser

Hello all - I accidently deleted a PM from someone on this forum asking me to update them on my search for schematics and other useful documentation on the M3si.  Please PM me back so that I can share what I found.  thanks.
