Avid Mirage fan here: Currently using Paradigm Atom monitor speakers on each side(finger's width apart) of a 28" PC monitor.
My OM-9's are just too big for this application.
As you may guess, the stereo image is a little weak from the Atoms(further apart than I am from the monitor), and a matching center channel wouldn't work for many reasons.
What I'd like to know is how well the Mirage Unitheater would work to create a better stereo image for the near-field. I have an 85WPC Denon Receiver, so that's not an issue. But I also have picky tastes, which conflict with my unfortunate conclusion that other than headphones, the only way to get a good soundfield from my set-up requires using speakers so small that they sound ... just... terrible.
But slide a Mirage Unitheater under the monitor, and I might have something. Sure, it would cost more than the monitor, but sound is important to me. And the Atoms would make good surrounds in such an arrangement.
Any input is welcome!
